Celebrating Diversity and Breaking Boundaries: Felipe y Tiago’s Inspiring Role Rotation Performance
A Before and an After in the Professional Dance World of Couple Shows in Bachata.
We are thrilled to share an inspiring and groundbreaking event that recently took place within our dance community. Felipe y Tiago, two incredible dancers, have performed a powerful activist stunt that challenges traditional norms and highlights the essence of the fight for equality of Rolerotation.
“They didn’t stop there! They took it a step further by rotating the roles within the role rotation show itself, showcasing that anyone can master any role, regardless of conventional expectations.“

The Performance
Felipe y Tiago captivated the audience with their extraordinary bachata performance, seamlessly rotating roles and demonstrating the true essence of versatility in dance. They didn’t stop there! They took it a step further by rotating the roles within the role rotation show itself, showcasing that anyone can master any role, regardless of conventional expectations.

The Message
Their performance wasn’t just about showcasing talent; it was a bold public statement proving that dance transcends gender norms and predefined roles and anyone should feel free and be able to choose whatever they want to dance regarding of any other factors. By continuously switching roles, Felipe y Tiago exemplified that skills and artistry cannot be confined, assigned or compared to “traditional” standards. They embodied the spirit that “anyone can do anything” in dance, making a powerful statement for inclusivity and equality.
Up until now, Same Gender couples have ALWAYS, and still are, been compared to heteronormative couples where a man leads a woman. Even in the professional world, a typical show is always associated, even if both dancers are of the same gender or a woman leads a man, by the general public always as >>that one dancer is playing “the man” and the other one is playing the “woman”<<. Regardless to say, everything is binary, therefore limiting access to the non-binary, transexual and others.
Felipe y Tiago’s, creators of the activist movement called Rolerotation, started with it a world-wide revolution that has reached over 35 countries around the world where inclusivity and awareness has made an impact into the dance scene. Dancers of all genders and backgrounds have started and are actively promoting dancing both roles, leading and following each other regardless of “traditional” gender norms. These continued changes in roles have paved, over the last 5 years, a new way of social dancing, a new revolution that is here to stay and some say unstoppable now, where anyone can learn to lead and to follow and freely dance with anyone of their choice regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

However, in the professional world it is important to note that some professionals still see this as “the role of the woman being rotated” when they see two men dancing together, in this case.
It was about time someone put a stop to these comparisons.
Representation matters and things that are not the same should not be compared. The general and professional public is learning now to see skills, dancing, culture, beauty and evolution. And some things are just new, they should fall into a newly created category and should not be compared to old norms.
To this goal, Felipe and Tiago not only decided to finally perform a Rolerotation show, but, after, add rolerotation to the role rotation show.
The strived to create a show where there couldn’t be not even a single point where a heteronormative couple man-woman, can be compared to, the comparisons should finish. A woman can be a leader too, a man can follow, anyone should be able to choose what to dance and with whom regardless of gender, sexual orientation or any other background. Freedom of choice is key.
There has never been in the professional dance world a heteronormative couple man-woman that rotated their professional bachata show around and re-did the entire thing backwards and in the other role, while also rotating roles in it.
These two Professional Rolerotation-bachata show Pieces with Rolerotation between Felipe y Tiago mark a new beginning, a new professional dance world with the hope of breaking free from comparisons.

Something that only a same-gender couple has done for the first time cannot be compared anymore with any other thing,
Rolerotation as an Activist movement.
